Celestino Gorostiza (1904-1967), miembro de El Colegio Nacional, fue un autor y director teatral que se inclino por el teatro de funcion social. En cierta forma, las obras aqui compiladas -de autores como Novo, Agustin Lazo, Emilio Carballido e Ibargüengoitia, entre otros- testimonian la renuncia al universalismo y son la aceptacion del regreso a lo cotidiano, local y regional, matices que contribuyen al realismo y verosimiltud de la escena.
